Argentina: Barely production, exports forecast to increase in 2021/22

Argentina’s 2021/22 barley production is forecast to reach 4.6 mln tonnes versus 4.1 mln tonnes in 2020/21, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their August report.

Domestic consumption is expected to increase to 1.55 mln tonnes from 1.48 mln in 2020/21. Exports are forecast at 3.2 mln tonnes versus 2.4 mln last year.

Argentina shipped 2.2 mln tonnes of barley in December-July, of which 1.65 mln tonnes to China, 333 thousand tonnes of malting barley to Brazil, and 225 thousand to Colombia/Peru/Ecuador. Export declarations for new crop barley are granted for 750 thousand tonnes of feed barley, exclusively for China, and 80 thousand tonnes of malting barley.
